Welcome to Baker & Bloom's brand-new blog, #BNBReads.
This is a blog about Creative Literacy, the promotion of which is our core mission.
First Things First
What is Creative Literacy?
Creative describes actions “relating to or involving the use of the imagination or original ideas to create something”.
Literacy is the ability to read and write.
But putting dictionary definitions together is no way to explain a concept we believe to be of foundational importance to life in the 21st-Century.
Simply put, Creative Literacy is a willingness, along with the courage, tools, and confidence, to positively affect the world.
What To Expect
Over the course of the next few weeks, we will look at what has been said about creativity.
We will explore different models of the creative process, what being creative could mean, and how, in order to survive and prosper, we may need to find a new language to talk about creativity in our lives.
We will also take you behind the scenes into Baker & Bloom's classrooms. You will see how we foster creativity, how creativity manifests itself when given the space, and we hope that it will prompt you to think about what a creative life at home would look like.
Because, as far as we can tell, there is no other way to live.
Next Monday, we will look at an advertising man’s simple formula for becoming more creative.
